Our Milk

Good cheese is made from good milk. That’s why high quality is not only a question of cheese production. We cooperate with our milk producers to guarantee the high quality of this valuable resource. After all, the most important ingredient of all Bergader cheese specialties is fresh milk from local farmers.

The farms of the around 1,500 Bergader milk suppliers are located in the strikingly beautiful natural landscape of the Bavarian Alpine Foreland. Hay and grass are collected from herb-rich meadows. This is very important for us, as milk tastes differently in every region due to the different varieties of feed given to the cows.

With their commitment and experience, all Bergader milk producers ensure that we only use particularly tasty and high quality milk. With some of our cheese dairy’s milk suppliers we have established strong and trusting relationships that have lasted for generations and have been passed on from father to son.

Chiemgau and Berchtesgadener Land in Bavaria and Innviertel in Upper Austria as well as bordering regions are the areas Bergader obtains its milk from. Locals and tourists alike enjoy these regions’ unspoiled nature and clean air - while the dairy cows enjoy lush meadows with fresh grass and herbs.
